  • Application Form Correction Window: For the first time, IBPS has introduced a two-day application correction facility after the registration period closes, allowing candidates to edit specific details in their submitted forms.
  • Increase in Vacancies: A total of 6,715 indicative vacancies have been announced for IBPS PO 2026, which is 1,507 more than the initial vacancies released in the previous recruitment cycle.

Eligibility Criteria For IBPS PO 2026

Nationality/Citizenship

You must be one of the following:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 to settle permanently, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia) or Vietnam, intending to settle permanently in India.

(Candidates who are not Indian citizens but belong to the categories of Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees, or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) from the specified countries can apply only if they possess an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Government of India. Indian citizens do not require this certificate.)

Important notes on age relaxation:

  • SC/ST/OBC relaxation can be combined with only one other relaxation category (PwBD or Ex-servicemen) — it’s cumulative with just one, not both.
  • The 30-year maximum age applies to General and EWS category candidates.
  • OBC candidates must submit a Non-Creamy Layer certificate, issued on or after 01.04.2026, and it must be valid up to the date of interview. If you belong to the OBC creamy layer, you must apply under the General category – OBC reservation is not applicable to you.
  • EWS certificates must be valid for the year 2026–2027, for financial year 2025-26.

Educational Qualification

  • A Graduation degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India (or an equivalent qualification).
  • Final-year students can also apply, but they must have their final result declared on or before 21.07.2026, and they must produce proof of graduation at the time of joining.
  • If your degree uses a CGPA/OGPA system, you must convert it to a percentage as per your university’s own conversion formula and be ready to submit proof of that formula at the interview stage.
  • Basic computer knowledge is required.

IBPS PO 2026 Selection Process

The selection has three main stages:

The Personality Test is mandatory but non-qualifying. Every candidate shortlisted after the Main Examination must appear for it before the Interview. However, its marks are not included in the final merit list.

Final merit is prepared using only the Main Exam score + Interview score. Your Prelims score does not count toward the final merit list  it’s only used to shortlist you for Mains.
