How to Choose the Right State for BOB LBO 2026?

Since candidates can apply for only one state, choosing the right state is an important decision in the BOB LBO application process. Candidates should consider the following factors before selecting their preferred state:

  • Check the vacancy: Prefer states with a higher number of vacancies, as they offer more available positions. Gujarat has the highest vacancies with 1,185 posts, followed by Karnataka with 418 vacancies.
  • Verify local language proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the required local language of the selected state.
  • Check your language certificate: Candidates who studied the required local language at the 10th or 12th level may be exempted from the LPT, subject to the Bank’s conditions.
  • Consider the state-wise competition: A higher vacancy count does not necessarily mean lower competition, so candidates should not select a state based only on vacancies.
  • Choose carefully: Since only one state can be selected, candidates should ensure that they meet all eligibility and language requirements before submitting the application.

BOB LBO Local Language Proficiency Test 2026

The Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) is an important part of the BOB LBO selection process. Candidates must fulfil the local language requirement of the state for which they apply.

  • Who needs to appear for LPT? Shortlisted candidates may have to appear for the LPT to demonstrate proficiency in the required local language.
  • Who can get an exemption? Candidates who provide valid proof of having studied the required local language at the 10th or 12th level may be exempted from the LPT, subject to the Bank’s prescribed conditions.
  • When is LPT conducted? It is conducted for shortlisted candidates as part of the selection process after the online examination.
  • Why is state selection important? Candidates can apply for only one state, so they should check the required local language and their eligibility for it before submitting the application.
  • What if the candidate does not meet the language requirement? Candidates should ensure that they fulfil the prescribed local language criteria for their selected state, as language proficiency is an important eligibility condition.
