1. PM Modi Inaugurated Bogibeel Bridge in Assam

i. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bogibeel bridge in Assam. The 4.94-kilometer long Bogibeel bridge on Brahmaputra river will connect the two northeast states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
ii. This Bogibeel Bridge on Brahmaputra river marks a historic milestone towards achieving the goal of New India. It was in 2002, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee commenced the construction of the double-decker bridge in Dibrugarh of Assam.
2. HM Rajnath Singh Releases The List Of Best Performing Police Stations

i. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh released the list of best-performing police stations across the nation during the ongoing DGP conference. On the top of the rank-list stands Kalu police station of Rajasthan.
ii. Singh awarded trophies to the police officers of the top three police stations of India in 2018 at the conference. The top three police stations in India for 2018 are:

  1. Kalu (Bikaner, Rajasthan).
  2. Campbell Bay ( Andaman & Nicobar Islands).
  3. Farakka (Murshidabad, West Bengal).
3. Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana Launched In Uttarakhand

i. ‘Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana’ has been launched in Uttarakhand. Under the scheme, each household in the state will be able to avail medical treatment of up to 5 lakh rupees annually. The scheme will benefit 23 lakh households and cover 1,350 critical diseases.
ii. Launching the Yojna in Dehradun, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat distributed scheme-related golden cards to beneficiaries.

4. 1st Meeting of Follow-up Committee Held In Iran 

 

i. The first meeting of the Follow-up Committee for implementation of the Trilateral Chabahar Agreement between India, Afghanistan and Iran was held in the port city of Chabahar in Iran.
ii. India Ports Global Limited company opened its office and took over operations at Chabahar. They agreed on the routes for the trade and transit corridors between the three countries.

5.India Takes Over Operations Of Chabahar Port In Iran 

i. Indian firm India Ports Global Limited formally took over the operations of Chabahar’s Shaheed Behesti port in Iran, which opens a trade route between India and central Asia bypassing Pakistan.
ii. The company opened its office following the first meeting of the follow-up committee for implementation of the trilateral Chabahar Agreement between India, Iran, and Afghanistan.

6.Rafi Award Conferred To Laxmikant And Usha Timothy 
i. The Mohammed Rafi Award has been bestowed upon late music composer Laxmikant Shantaram Kudalkar and playback singer Usha Timothy.
ii. Kudalkar, of the Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo, was given the Mohammed Rafi Lifetime Achievement Award consisting of 1 lakh rupees and a trophy. 


7.DIPP Swachch Bharat Grand Challenge Awards Presented

i. As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada held from, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) organized a Swachch Bharat Grand Challenge. 
ii. The 1st Prize money for the Swachch Bharat Grand Challenge was Rs. 2 lakh. The awards were given away by Secretary DIPP, Ramesh Abhishek in New Delhi.

8. RBI To Soon Release New Rs 20 Note

i. The Reserve Bank of India will soon introduce Rs 20 notes with additional features. 
ii. The new notes are being introduced under the Mahatma Gandhi series. The new currency notes are different in size and design compared to issued previously.

9. P.V. Bharathi Appointed MD and CEO of Corporation Bank 

i. P V Bharathi has been appointed as managing director and chief executive officer of the Corporation Bank. Bharathi is at present Executive Director, Canara Bank. She will replace Jai Kumar Garg. 
ii. She will take over the charge on or after February 1, 2019. Birupaksha Mishra and Balakrishna Alse S have been appointed as executive director in the Corporation Bank and the Oriental Bank of Commerce, respectively.

10. Good Governance Day: 25 December

i. Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday is celebrated as Good Governance Day across the country on 25 December
ii. The Samadhi of Bharat Ratna and Former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee Sadaiv Atal was dedicated to the Nation.

iii. The Samadhi has been completed by CPWD at a cost of over ten crore rupees and the entire cost of construction has been borne by the Atal Smriti Nyas Society.

11. Paddy Ashdown: Ex-Liberal Democrats Leader Passes Away

i. Centrist politician Paddy Ashdown has died aged 77 after a short illness. 

ii. He quit in 1999 and went on to become the European Union’s special representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina.


12. Padma Shri Awardee Sulagitti Narasamma Passes Away 

i. Social worker and Padma Shri awardee Sulagitti Narasamma passed away in Bengaluru. She was 98 years old.
ii. Narasamma had helped deliver more than 15,000 babies, free of charge, in Krishnapura, a remote village in Pavagada Taluk in Karnataka.
