  • Italian PM Paolo Gentiloni visited India. This is the first visit by an Italian premier in 10 years. 
  • Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas Pradhan launched Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat at Mota Ishanpur village in Gandhinagar district of Gujarat.

  • 12th G20 Summit 2017 held in Hamburg, Germany. Theme of summit was ‘shaping an interconnected world’
  • PM Modi launched – Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana ‘Saubhagya’ to provide electricity connections to over 4 crore families in rural & urban areas by December 2018. India will achieve the target of power for all by December 2018, while all villages will be electrified by the end of 2017.
  • 9th BRICS Summit was held in Xiamen, China. The Summit had five participating countries namely Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa. The theme was “BRICS: Stronger Partnership for a Brighter Future”
  • 131st Wimbeldon edition held in London, UK. Roger Federer became the first man to win Wimbledon eight times. 
  • e-Rashtriya Kisan Agri Mandi (e-RaKAM) portal is launched to provide a platform for farmers to sell agricultural produce.
  • GOI decided to launch a new sub-scheme named “Aajeevika Grameen Express Yojana (AGEY)” as part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). 
  • Narendra Modi became the first PM from India to visit Israel in the last 70 years. 7 agreements signed between the two countries.
  • PM Modi concludes his first bilateral visit to Myanmar. He was received by the Myanmar President Htin Kyaw.
  • Bill Passed by Lok Sabha to raise NABARD’s Capital to Rs. 30,000 crores.
  • Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decided to keep policy repo rate under the liquidity adjustment facility (LAF) unchanged at 6%. RRR under the LAF remains at 5.75%, & MSF rate & Bank Rate at 6.25%. The projection of real GVA growth for 2017-18 of 6.7% has been retained.
  • SBI launched a unified integrated app called YONO (You Need Only One) that would offer all kinds of financial & lifestyle products. SBI signed an agreement with Escorts Ltd. to finance farmers for purchase of Escorts tractors.
  • Andhra Bank launched a new scheme for self-help groups (SHGs) to encourage entrepreneurship. The scheme, Pattabhi Sitaramayya — Self Business Group (PS-SBG), introduced to commemorate the 138th birth anniversary of its founder Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramayya, & the Silver Jubilee of the SHG-Bank linkage programme in the country. 
  • Syndicate Bank cut savings account interest rate by 0.50% to 3.50% for deposits up to Rs 25 lakh. For the deposits above Rs 25 lakh, the interest rate is 4%.
  • Paytm Payments Bank rolled out Paytm FASTag to enable electronic toll fee collection on highways across the country.
  • Yes Bank signed an MoU with Innovation Centre Denmark India (ICDK India) to bring fintech innovations & startups from Denmark to India, & facilitate entry of Indian startups to the region.
  • “Smart Banking 24X7” e-lobbies launched by Kotak Mahindra Bank in Mumbai.
  • Fincare Small Finance Bank (previously known as Disha Microfin Limited) kick-started its banking operations with about 25 operational branches across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Andhra Pradesh.
  • Paytm & ICICI Bank collaborated to announce an all new initiative where users can get interest-free short term digital credit. Called Paytm-ICICI Bank Postpaid.
  • Corporation Bank launched its RuPay Select & RuPay Platinum credit cards. Jai Kumar Garg, MD & CEO unveiled it.
  • Life insurer PNB MetLife signed a corporate agency agreement with Bank of Bahrain & Kuwait B.S.C (BBK).
  • Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the creation of a new virtual currency named ‘Petro’ to ease the country’s economic crisis.
  • HSBC launched mobile app – Trade Transaction Tracker – to help customers track the status of their trade transactions on a real-time basis.
