Every year, 2nd October is celebrated throughout the country to commerate the birth anniversary of Mohandas karamchand Gandhi, “The Father oF our Nation.” 2nd October is celebrated as one of the three national holidays of India. This Day has also declared as the International Day of Non-violence by the United nation General Assembly on 15 June 2007. Mahatma Gandhi is one of the well Known Freedom fighter and is known for his contribution towards the country. The day is celebrated by Prayer, services and tributes all over India. The day is celebrated differently in school, colleges, Institutions and Socio-Political institutions in the form of prayer meetings, Commerate ceremonies and tributes.

This October 2nd, we are going to celebrate the 150th Birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Also,“Swach Bharat Abhiyan” was launched on 2nd October 2014, run by the government of India this mission aims to achieve an open defecation free India by 2nd October 2019, aiming to construct around 100 million toilets in rural India.

Famous Indian Fighter, Mahatma Gandhi was born on 2nd October, 1869 in porbunder, a small Town in Gujarat. In south Africa he practiced Law and got married to katurba at the age of 13. In his autobiography “My experiments with Truth”, Gandhiji read his childhood and teenage years, and a pure devotion to his country. He was the adamant follower of truth and non-violence and sets an example of easy living and noble thinking.

He started the satyagrah movement and fight against the British rule for the freedom of the country. He played a vital role in sustaining freedom for the country and showed the world that freedom could be achieved by following the path of non-violence. Violence was against his conscience and he always chose to keep his inner conscience bove everything. This teaches us that we should also listen to our inner strength and voice before we make any important decision for our life. He also set an example of simple living.

All the organizations remained close throught the day to celebrate the birth anniversary of Gandhiji. Special celebrations are done at Raj Ghat, Delhi. People here, do prayers, pay homage and take oath to always follow the path as enlighten by him.
