India and US co-ordinating for stability in Afghanistan

India and the USA committed to cooperating with each other for stability in Afghanistan. US State Department spoke person Ned Price said that Anthony Blinken from USA and S Jaishankar (External Affairs Minister) from India agreed that the two nations will co-ordinate each other on efforts to promote stability in Afghanistan. Recently Washington and NATO have announced the withdrawal of their troops from Afghanistan. Anthony Blinken spoke to Dr. S Jaishankar to reaffirm the importance of the US-India relationship and cooperation on regional security issues.

USA and NATO recently decided to pull out their troops from Afghanistan; India would have a tremendous concern about the resurgence of the Taliban and its territory being used as a safe haven for terrorists. Thus it is expected that India will put some points before the USA to protect itself from any terrorist activities or border conflicts.

State Department spokesperson said that the two leaders from strong nations agreed on close and frequent coordination to support long-lasting peace and development for the people of Afghanistan. Other issues discussed between the two leaders include the rehabilitation of democracy in Myanmar, Covid-19, and climate change, for which President Joe Biden is convening a global summit. Dr. S Jaishankar, external affairs minister tweeted that his conversation covered recent developments in India’s immediate and extended neighborhood, health cooperation, and UNSC agenda.
