1. Ambiguity [am-bi-gyoo-i-tee] 
Noun: doubtfulness or uncertainty of meaning or intention; an unclear, indefinite, or equivocal word, expression, meaning, etc.
Synonyms: doubt, uncertainty, vagueness, anagram, doubtfulness, dubiety, dubiousness, enigma, equivocation, incertitude, inconclusiveness, indefiniteness, indeterminateness, obscurity, polysemy.
Antonyms: certainty, clarity, clearness, definiteness.

2. Obviate [ob-vee-eyt] 
Verb: to anticipate and prevent or eliminate (difficulties, disadvantages, etc.) by effective measures; render unnecessary.
Synonyms: counteract, forestall, preclude, anticipate, avert, block, counter, deter, forfend, hinder, interfere, interpose, intervene, prevent, remove.
Antonyms: support, aid, allow, assist.

3. Recourse [ree-kawrs, -kohrs, ri-kawrs, -kohrs] 
Noun: access or resort to a person or thing for help or protection; a person or thing resorted to for help or protection; the right to collect from a maker or endorser of a negotiable instrument. The endorser may add the words “without recourse” on the instrument, thereby transferring the instrument without assuming any liability.
Synonyms: remedy, aid, appeal, choice, expediency, expedient, help, makeshift, option, refuge, resort, resource.
Antonyms: blockage, hindrance, injury, obstruction.

4. Interlocutory [in-ter-lok-yuh-tawr-ee, -tohr-ee] 
Adjective: of the nature of, pertaining to, or occurring in conversation; interjected into the main course of speech.

Example: This clarification from the court has effectively made infructuous any pending litigation in High Courts on declassification of State or National Highways to district roads by State governments or local authorities.

5. Infructuous [in-fructuous]
Adjective: unfruitful; fruitless unprofitable.

6. Litigation [lit-i-gey-shuh n] 
Noun: the act or process of litigating; a lawsuit.
Synonyms: action, case, dispute, lawsuit, process, prosecution, suit, trial, cause, contention.

Example: Cabinet gives in-principle approval for oversight body.

7. Oversight [oh-ver-sahyt] 
Noun: an omission or error due to carelessness; unintentional failure to notice or consider; lack of proper attention.
Synonyms: lapse, mistake, neglect, blank, blunder, carelessness, chasm, default, delinquency, dereliction, disregard, error, fault, inattention, laxity, miscue, overlook.
Antonyms: achievement, success, accuracy, advantage.

Example: The Centre’s nudge towards consolidation among public sector banks assumes significance as most of them are grappling with huge levels of non-performing assets or NPAs, slow credit offtake and resultant pressures on capital adequacy.

8. Grapple [grap-uh l] 
Verb: to hold or make fast to something; to seize another, or each other, in a firm grip, as in wrestling; clinch.
Noun: a hook or an iron instrument by which one thing, as a ship, fastens onto another; grapnel.
Synonyms: confront, contend, cope, deal with, attack, battle, catch, clash, clasp, close, clutch, combat, encounter.
Antonyms: agree, avoid, be immune, cancel.

Example: An official statement said that stronger public sector banks will help meet the credit needs of a growing economy, absorb shocks and give them the capacity to raise resources without depending unduly on the state exchequer.

9. Exchequer [eks-chek-er, iks-chek-er] 
Noun: a treasury, as of a state or nation.
Synonyms: fund, stock, store, treasury, coffer, countinghouse, depository, hoard, repository, reserve, reservoir, safe, savings.

Example: This price drop may accentuate in the months of October and November, which is the peak production season.

10. Accentuate [ak-sen-choo-eyt] 
Verb: to give emphasis or prominence to; to mark or pronounce with an accent.
Synonyms: emphasize, highlight, point up, underline, underscore, accent, feature, spotlight, stress, bring attention to, call attention to, draw attention to.
Antonyms: divert attention from, mask.
