Who Can Apply for SBI Clerk 2026?
The SBI Clerk Special Recruitment Drive has specific eligibility conditions related to age, educational qualification, and category.
Age Limit
- Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on 1 April 2026.
- The candidate should have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates inclusive.
Age Relaxation
Age relaxation is available to eligible candidates as per SBI rules:
- OBC: 3 years
- SC/ST: 5 years
- PwBD (OBC): 13 years
- PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years

The SBI Clerk Special Recruitment Drive 2026 has been announced specifically to fill backlog vacancies reserved for SC, ST and OBC candidates. Therefore, candidates should carefully check the category-wise eligibility before applying.
The following candidates cannot apply for these vacancies:
- Candidates belonging to the General/UR category are not eligible to apply for the SBI Clerk Special Recruitment Drive 2026, as the vacancies are meant only for SC, ST and OBC backlog posts.
- Candidates who are currently working in the SBI clerical cadre cannot apply.
- Candidates who were previously employed in the SBI clerical cadre but resigned from the clerical cadre are also not eligible.
- Candidates who have already submitted an application for more than one State/UT are not eligible, as only one State/UT can be selected.
- Candidates who fail to fulfil the prescribed local language requirements, wherever applicable, may not be considered for appointment.
