World Post Day 2021: Every year we celebrate World Post Day on 9th October to remark the anniversary of the universal postal union (UPU) which was inaugurated in Switzerland in 1874. World Post Day marks the importance of universal Mail find the contribution of UPU towards society and the global economy. 

Postal services play a vital role in today’s world. From personal letters, important documents, shopping packages, etc. are handled by postal services throughout the globe. Although the majority of the people have started opting for the digital medium to perform all the above-mentioned activities still the postal services hold importance in our society. That is why world post day is celebrated.

World Post Day 2021: History

The World Post Day originated at the UPU Congress in Tokyo, Japan in 1969. An Indian delegation named Shri Ananda Mohan Narula submitted this day and since then World Post Day has been celebrated all over the world on 9th October highlighting the importance of postal services.

World Post Day 2021: Significance

World postal Day is celebrated on 9th October every year. The significance of this day is to spread awareness among people about the role of the postal sector for businesses and people every day. 

Every year UPU’s 192 member countries celebrate world post day by holding special stamp exhibitions. On this day countries also launch new postal initiatives to mark the importance of universal mail to society and the global economy. In India, world post day is celebrated throughout the week.
