Your Signature Can Spark a Change in IBPS System

In a country where lakhs of candidates appear for bank exams every year, transparency in evaluation is not just a demand, it’s a right. For far too long, aspirants have been left in the dark about how their marks are calculated, what answers were considered correct, and how normalization affects their final scores. A new Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeks to change that. By signing this petition, candidates are not just raising their voice; they are pushing for a system where fairness and accountability are non-negotiable.

Your Signature Can Spark a Change in IBPS System

Banking aspirants dedicate months, sometimes years, to prepare for exams conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). Yet, after all the effort, what they get is a scorecard without any clarity on the raw scores, answer key, or the normalization logic. This lack of transparency leads to confusion, distrust, and questions that remain unanswered. The PIL aims to change this by asking for three simple, yet powerful reforms that can bring accountability and fairness into the IBPS evaluation process.

What the PIL Demands

Here’s what the petition calls for:

  • Release of Official Answer Keys: After every examination, the answer key should be made available for candidates to cross-verify their attempts. This is a standard practice in several other government and competitive exams.
  • Access to Raw Scores: Candidates deserve to know their exact performance — the number of correct and incorrect answers, and the raw scores before normalization.
  • Transparency in Normalization: IBPS uses a normalization formula to balance scores across shifts. However, the method is never disclosed. The PIL demands that IBPS publish the normalization formula or method used in evaluations.

PIL Submission After 1 Lakh Signatures: Who Will Receive the Petition?

Once this petition garners over 1,00,000 signatures, it will be formally taken forward as a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and submitted to the relevant authorities for action. The demand for transparency in the IBPS recruitment process will be presented to:

  • Ministry of Finance, Government of India
  • Department of Financial Services
  • IBPS Officials
  • Prime Minister’s Office (PMO India)
  • National & Regional Media Houses
