International Children’s Day 2021: Theme

History of World Children’s Day

>Dr Charles Leonard started this day by naming it Rose Day in the United Kingdom in the year 1857.

> The Republic of Turkey declared Children’s day as a national holiday in 1920.

>United Nations established “Universal Children’s Day” with a date of 20th November in the year 1954.

>United Nations General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child on  November 20, 1959, and on 20, November 1989 UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

>Famously known as “Chacha Nehru”, Jawaharlal Nehru was a great advocate for children’s rights and worked towards an education structure where knowledge shall be accessible to all.

Therefore his birth anniversary is celebrated as “Children’s Day” i.e 14th November.

Significance of World Children’s Day

This day is observed worldwide in order to make children aware of their rights. Ensure proper healthcare facilities and basic education to all. Corroborate the child’s physical and mental wellbeing. Make adults realize their active role in the ward’s discipline and overall attitude.
