Agriculture Ministry signs MOU with Microsoft to increase farmers’ income

Agriculture Minister Narendra singh Tomar has signed MOU with Tech-giant US company Microsoft for pilot projects in 100 villages of 6 states namely, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. 

Microsoft and Agriculture Ministry will develop a technique that interfaces a farmer for smart and well-organized agriculture, including post-harvest management and distribution. Microsoft Corp. will provide Indian farmers post-harvest management solutions with an aim of improving efficiency and productivity across the agriculture sector. Mr. Tomar said, on the occasion that it is an idea of PM Modi of digital agriculture which is now taking shape. PM Modi has laid great emphasis on the usage of modern technologies in the farming sector to enhance farmer’s income. He also said, the agricultural economy of the country is the backbone of the country and any damage or loss to it is a very big loss for the country. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said the agriculture sector has contributed positively to the country’s economy even in adverse conditions like the current Covid-19 Pandemic. 

The money of various central government-sponsored schemes including Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) is deposited directly to beneficiary’s bank accounts to ensure transparency. MNREGA is also on the priority list of the Prime Minister.
