Types of Alphanumeric Series

Letter-Based Series
In this type, only letters (A to Z) are given in a particular order. You need to find the missing letter or identify a pattern based on alphabetical order or reverse alphabetical order.
Example:

Logic: The letters are increasing by +2
Answer: L
Number-Based Series
Here, only numbers are given. You need to apply arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication or division to find the pattern.
Example:

Logic: Multiply by 2 each time
Answer: 32
Mixed Alphanumeric Series
This is the most common type in IBPS RRB. It contains a combination of letters, numbers and symbols. You will be asked to find the position of a letter or number, count the number of vowels or odd numbers, or find elements based on a given condition.

- How many letters are there between 3 and G?

Symbol-Based Questions

Observe Carefully
Before solving, read the series 2 to 3 times. Try to notice any repetition, pattern or order.
Break the Series into Parts
Divide the given series into smaller groups of 3 or 5 elements. This helps in spotting patterns easily.
Note Down the Positions
For questions involving left and right positions, draw the series and mark the positions properly to avoid mistakes.
Remember Alphabet Positions
