Daily Vocabulary for Bank Exams: 3rd March 2019

Vocabulary is an important part of English that helps you deal with all kinds of questions in objective as well as descriptive papers of various exams. In the recently concluded Banking Exams, we witnessed that a major part of the exam was based on vocabulary. Many questions were vocab based and we can expect the same in the upcoming exams. 1.AUTONOMOUS-स्वायत्तशासी
Meaning:independent and having the power to make your own decisions
Synonyms: self- governing, sovereign
Antonyms: dependent, subservient
Example:The company’s divisions, which have been largely autonomous up to now, will be centralized under the newly appointed CEO.

2.CULMINATE-समापन
Meaning:to have as a result or be the final result of a process
Synonyms: conclude, climax
Antonyms: begin, commence
Example:My arguments with the boss got worse and worse, and finally culminated in my resignation.

3.AFFILIATE-संबद्ध
Meaning:to cause a group to become part of or form a close relationship with another, usually larger, group, or organization
Synonyms: partner, associate
Antonyms: enemy
Example:The school is affiliated with a national association of driving schools.

4.MALICE-द्वेष
Meaning:the wish to harm or upset other people
Synonyms: animosity, bitterness
Antonyms: love, liking
Example:An employee would have to prove an employer acted out of malice in order to sue.

5.SCRUNCH-कुचलना
Meaning:to make something or yourself smaller to fit into a small space
Synonyms: compress, crunch
Antonyms: expand, uncompress
Example:The cat was hiding, scrunched up under the sofa.

6.REPULSE-खदेड़ना
Meaning:to push someone or something back or away, esp. to successfully stop an attack
Synonyms: check, defeat
Antonyms: attraction, success
Example:The attacks were repulsed by means of tear smoke.

7.ASTOUND-घबराना
Meaning:to surprise or shock someone very much
Synonyms: astonish, bewilder
Antonyms: explain, clarify
Example:Considering how badly they’re paid and what little support they get, the dedication of these teachers astounds me.

8. RATIONAL-युक्तिसंगत
Meaning:based on clear thought and reason
Synonyms: intelligent, judicious
Antonyms: careless, foolish
Example:Bayesian analysis provides a rational basis for the qualitative form of set-theoretic models of similarity.

9. DODGE-चकमा
Meaning:a trick to deceive someone or to avoid doing something that you do not want to do
Synonyms: device, method
Antonyms: face, confront
Example:When measured in yen, trade went up by only 2%, but measuring trade in yen is a dodge, because almost all of it is conducted in dollars.

10. DEDUCE-परिणाम निकालना
Meaning: to reach an answer or a decision by thinking carefully about the known facts
Synonyms: derive, surmise
Antonyms: destroy, disperse
Example:The police have deduced that he must have left his apartment yesterday evening.
