Indian Toy Fair 2021: Current Affairs Special Series

PM Modi inaugurated Indian Toy Fair 2021 through video conferencing. He emphasized on ‘Vocal for Local’ mantra and urged the country to become ‘Atmanirbhar’ in the toy manufacturing sector.

                The inauguration of the first toy fair in India is the vision of the government to make Indian artists more innovative and more eco-friendly. PM Modi said in the inauguration ceremony that, our toys reflect reuse and recycling which has been a part of our lifestyle. Most of the toys are made from eco-friendly material and the colors used in them are natural and safe. He appealed to the toy manufacturers to build such toys which are better for both ecology and psychology, he also asked if we could make an effort to make minimal use of plastic in toys and use such material that can be recycled. Textiles Secretary U.P. Singh has said that the first-ever Indian toy fair is a great beginning to give a lot of fillip to the Toy Industry. He added that National Action Plan for toys has been created by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and stated that, Toycathon-2021 was conceived to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize novel Toy and Games and to crowdsource solutions to different problems faced by Toy Industry.

                Secretary to Textiles ministry Mr. Singh said that Toys have been identified as one of the 24 key sectors under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan.
