PM Modi and Finland’s PM Sana Marin to hold virtual summit today

PM Modi meets Finland’s PM Sana Marin virtually to discuss future expansion and diversification of the India-Finland Partnership. During the summit, the two leaders have covered the entire spectrum of bilateral relationships and will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. 

India and Finland are enjoying warm and friendly relations based on shared values of democracy, freedom, and rules-based international order. Both the countries have good mutual cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, education, innovation, Science and Technology as well as Research and Development. Both sides also have collaboration in the joint development of a Quantum Computer using Artificial Intelligence to address societal challenges. Around 100 Finland companies are actively operating in India in various sectors such as telecom, elevators, machinery, and energy including Renewable Energy. Almost 30 Indian companies are also actively operating in Finland mainly in IT, auto-components, and the hospitality sector. India and Finland jointly launched a digital partnership that will focus on collaborating on developing future ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and mobile technologies including research and development of 6G and the usage of digital tools to transform education. 

Both leaders also launched a sustainability partnership involving renewable energy and clean energy, circular economy, and sustainable mobility, and said green growth is an essential element of bilateral cooperation. PM Modi speaking in Hindi in his opening remarks at the summit that, strong cooperation in some areas like technology, innovation, clean energy, environment, and education will be very important for global economic recovery in the post-Covid period.
