Reasoning Section Strategy For IBPS SO Exam 2018 |_2.1

IBPS SO Prelims Exam is scheduled to be held on 29th and 30th of the next month. That means you are still left with a month to give the final touch to your preparations for this exam. IBPS PO Mains exam was conducted recently and we got to see a variety of new pattern questions on the question paper. That the pattern is only getting complex and convoluted day by day, the Reasoning Ability is a section that nobody can give a cold shoulder to. The total number of questions in the Reasoning Section of IBPS SO Prelims Examination 2018 will be 50.

Questions on Puzzles and Seating Arrangement make a significant part of this section with the number of questions ranging from 23 to 25 on them. Most of the miscellaneous topics like Blood Relation and Direction Sense too are being asked in the form of puzzles these days. Also, in IBPS PO Mains Examination, it was observed that puzzles involved mathematical calculations too. So, one needs to concentrate the most on this part while getting herself ready for any banking examination. Do not just concentrate but also practice with Adda247 Daily Quizzes so you do not waste much of your precious time while solving the difficult puzzles during your IBPS SO Prelims Examination.

The puzzles now being asked are very lengthy, complex and even calculation based. They are usually based on Seating Arrangement (linear, circular, triangular, rectangular and sometimes hexagonal even), Floors, Tabular form, Blood Relations, etc and can be asked in 2-3 variables, depending on the difficulty level of the question. A mix of Seating Arrangement and Blood Relations is also being asked very frequently.
An important tip to solve difficult puzzles with 100% accuracy is to make 2-3 possibilities for the same puzzle and keep canceling them out as you proceed. Another important point to bear in mind while doing puzzles is not to ignore the important key points while reading the question. The puzzles that are easy to solve should not consume more than 2-3 minutes, the puzzles of moderate level should be solved within 5 minutes and the difficult puzzles should be finished within 8-10minutes. If the time that you take while solving different puzzles is more than the time affirmed above, then you really need to work on it.

The other important topics to be prepared for IBPS SO Prelims Examination are Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Inequality, Data Sufficiency, Input-Output. Questions on Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Inequality, if asked in IBPS SO Prelims Examination, will be 5-8 in number and that on Data Sufficiency, Input-Output will be 3-5. In Syllogism, the questions can be based on the usual old pattern as well as the new pattern of Reverse Syllogism in which the conclusion is given in the question and you have to choose the correct statements for that particular conclusion. It is one of the easiest and most scoring topics so prepare it so you can easily bag 5 marks in this section.  The questions based on data sufficiency can have 2 or 3 statements based on the difficulty level of the questions. Input-Output is one of the difficult topics asked in the reasoning section and should be attempted in the end.

The questions asked from Logical Reasoning are based on cause and effect, a course of action, assumptions, and conclusions, strength of arguments, inference, etc. The questions based on logical reasoning will be 5-6 in number and they are not very time-consuming during the time of examination for the one who has practiced similar questions before. Blood Relation, Direction &and Distance are the other miscellaneous topics that are easy to solve as compared to the topics mentioned above. The questions asked on these topics range from 5 to 6. Try to attempt these question in the beginning as these are easy to solve and do not consume much of your time.

The more you practice, the better you get. Knowledge is of no value unless you put it in practice. So, work hard, keep practicing, and everything will come up roses in the end. All the best!!
