Solution:

According to question,
CP = 30 × 9.50 + 30 × 8.5
= 30 [9.5 + 8.5] = 30 × 18 = Rs. 540
SP = 60 × 8.90
= Rs. 534
Loss = CP – SP = 540 – 534 = Rs. 6

Q3. The speed of a boat in still water is 12 kmph. If the boat covers 36 km upstream in 4 hours, what is the speed of stream?

Let speed of stream = S km/hr
∴ (12 – S) × 4 = 36
