Example: Privacy is a fundamental right, declares SC. While saying it is intrinsic to life and liberty, the court also said that it is not an absolute right.

1. Intrinsic [in-trin-sik, -zik]
Adjective: belonging to a thing by its very nature; belonging to or lying within a given part.
Synonyms: deep-seated, elemental, inherent, innate, peculiar, underlying, built-in, central, congenital, connate, constitutional, constitutive, essential, fundamental, genuine, hereditary, inbred, indwelling, inmost.
Antonyms: acquired, extrinsic, learned, accidental.

2. Absolute [ab-suh-loot, ab-suh-loot]
Adjective: free from imperfection; complete; perfect; not mixed or adulterated; pure; complete; outright; an absolute denial.
Noun: something that is not dependent upon external conditions for existence or for its specific nature, size, etc. (opposed to relative ).
Synonyms: complete, full, infinite, outright, pure, sheer, simple, unadulterated, unconditional, unlimited, unqualified, utter, entire, free, total, unabridged, consummate.
Antonyms: bounded, conditional, incomplete, indefinite.

Example: In a unanimous verdict, a nine-judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court on Thursday declared that privacy is intrinsic to life and liberty and an inherent part of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.

3. Enshrine [en-shrahyn]
Verb: to enclose in or as in a shrine; to cherish as sacred.
Synonyms: cherish, consecrate, preserve, revere, apotheosize, bless, dedicate, embalm, exalt, hallow, idolize, sanctify, treasure.
Antonyms: condemn, desecrate, defile, disrespect.

Example: The court held that privacy is a natural right that inheres in human beings because they are human.

4. Inhere [in-heer]
Verb: to exist permanently and inseparably in, as a quality, attribute, or element; belong intrinsically; be inherent.
Synonyms: abide, be, dwell, exist, lie, repose, reside, rest, subsist, be contained in, be expressed by, be found in.
Antonyms: be active, energize, move, stand.

Example: The court chided the Centre for describing right to privacy as an “elitist construct.”

5. Chide [chahyd]
Verb: to express disapproval of; scold; reproach; to harass, nag, impel, or the like by chiding.
Synonyms: admonish, berate, blame, castigate, censure, condemn, rebuke, reprimand, reproach, scold, upbraid, check, flay, monish, rate, reprehend, reprove.
Antonyms: applaud, approve, commend, compliment.

6. Elitist [ih-lee-tist ey-lee‐]
Adjective: considered superior by others or by themselves, as in intellect, talent, power, wealth, or position in society; catering to or associated with an elitist class, its ideologies, or its institutions.
Noun: a person having, thought to have, or professing superior intellect or talent, power, wealth, or membership in the upper echelons of society.
Synonyms: highbrow, stiff, name-dropper, pompous ass, pompous person, social climber, stuffed shirt.

Example: The refrain that the poor need no civil and political rights and are concerned only with economic well-being has been utilised through history to wreak the most egregious violations of human rights.

7. Refrain [ri-freyn]
Noun: a phrase or verse recurring at intervals in a song or poem, especially at the end of each stanza; chorus.
Synonyms: melody, theme, burden, music, song, strain, tune, undersong.
Antonym: silence.

8. Wreak [reek]
Verb: to inflict or execute (punishment, vengeance, etc.); to carry out the promptings of (one’s rage, ill humor, will, desire, etc.), as on a victim or object.
Synonyms: bring about, inflict, unleash, wreck, create, effect, execute, exercise, vent, visit, work, carry out, force upon.
Antonyms: destroy, fail, forget, ignore.

9. Egregious [ih-gree-juh s, -jee-uh s]
Adjective: extraordinary in some bad way; glaring; flagrant; an egregious liar.
Synonyms: gross, outrageous, notorious, shocking.
Antonyms: tolerable, moderate, minor, unnoticeable.

Example: Constable, tout arrested for taking bribe.

10. Tout [tout]
Verb: to solicit business, employment, votes, or the like, importunately; to act as a tout; to describe or advertise boastfully; publicize or promote; praise extravagantly.
Noun: a person who solicits business, employment, support, or the like, importunately.
Synonyms: laud, praise, proclaim, promote, publicize, trumpet, acclaim, ballyhoo, boost, herald, plug, push, steer, tip.
Antonyms: blame, conceal, condemn, hide.
