Comparison Between JAIIB 2022 & 2023

JAIIB, Junior Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers is a flagship course for banking and financial sector employees. IIBF has formulated changes in JAIIB which will be implemented form May 2023 session. Two new compulsory subjects have been added to the JAIIB Revised Syllabus 2023. Candidates aspiring to qualify JAIIB Exam from 2023 should be updated with the changes. In this article, we have brought a comparison between JAIIB 2022 & 2023 which will include the changes in syllabus, exam pattern and other details.

JAIIB Exam Date 2023

JAIIB Exam Till 2022

The JAIIB Exam conducted in November 2022 was the last exam with the JAIIB Syllabus 2022. Candidates can check the pattern of JAIIB Exam till 2022 discussed below.

Papers

To qualify for JAIIB Exam, aspirants had to appear for 3 compulsory papers described below.

  • Paper 1:Principles and Practices of Banking (PPB)
  • Paper 2:Accounting and Finance For Bankers
  • Paper 3: Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Banking

Exam Pattern

JAIIB Exam 2022 followed the following pattern:

  • JAIIB Exam 2022 was conducted in online medium.
  • Each of the three papers comprised of 120 Questions for 100 marks.
  • The time allotted to complete each paper of JAIIB is 2 Hours.

Marking Criteria

JAIIB Exam till 2022 followed the given marking criteria.

  • Minimum marks to qualify in each paper of JAIIB was 50 out of 100.
  • Candidates securing at least 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50% marks in all subjects of the examination in a single attempt will also be declared as having passed the examination.
  • There was no negative marking in JAIIB Exam till 2022.

Time Limit

The time limit for qualifying the JAIIB Exam till 2022 was as follows:

  • To crack the JAIIB Exam candidates were given a time Limit of 2 years (4 consecutive attempts).
  • The time limit of 2 years will start from the date of application for the first attempt.
  • Candidates who are not able to clear the JAIIB Exam in the time limit of 2 years will have to enroll again.
  • In that case credit will not be given for any of the paper that they have qualified earlier.

JAIIB Exam From 2023 Onwards

The Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) has revised the JAIIB Syllabus. To make the JAIIB Course more contemporary and conceptual the modifications have been made by the IIBF. The revised JAIIB syllabus will be applicable from 2023 and the first examination under the JAIIB Revised Syllabus will be conducted in May 2023.

Papers

As per the changes made by IIBF from 2023 candidates will have to appear for 4 compulsory subjects in JAIIB. The compulsory papers of JAIIB include the following:

  • Paper 1: Indian Economy and Indian Financial System (IE & IFS)
  • Paper 2: Principles and Practices of Banking (PPB)
  • Paper 3: Accounting and Financial Management for Bankers (AFM)
  • Paper 4: Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM)

Exam Pattern

The salient features of JAIIB Exam 2023 are summarized below.

  • JAIIB Exam 2023 will be conducted in an Online Medium.
  • The Questions asked in each of the compulsory subjects of JAIIB will be of MCQ Pattern.
  • Each of the compulsory subjects of JAIIB will comprise 100 Questions.
  • The time allotted will be 120 minutes for each paper.

Marking Criteria

The Marking Criteria of JAIIB Exam from 2023 onwards will be as follows:

  • Minimum marks to qualify in each subject of JAIIB will be 50 out of 100.
  • Candidates securing at least 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50% marks in all subjects of the examination in the first attempt will also be declared as having qualified the examination.
  • No Negative Marking.

Time Limit

The time limit that aspirants will be allotted to qualify JAIIB Exam from 2023 is described below.

  • Aspirants will get 5 attempts to qualify for the exam in the maximum time period of 3 years, whichever is earlier.
  • The time limit will commence from the time the candidate registers for the exam.
  • It is not necessary that the 5 attempts should be consecutive.
  • Candidates unable to pass the examination within the maximum given time period of 3 years or 5 attempts, whichever is earlier, will have to enroll again for the JAIIB Exam.
  • Time period of 3 years or 5 attempts, whichever is earlier, will start from the date of registration for the first attempt. Attempts will be considered when he/she applies for the exam, irrespective of whether the candidate appears for any examination or not.
  • Out of the 6 JAIIB examinations conducted within the 3 years time period a candidate will be eligible to apply for any five examinations. If a candidate appears for all the five attempts before three years is completed, then he/she will have to enroll again. Similarly, if a candidate does not avail five attempts but the prescribed time period of three years is completed then he/she will be have to re-enrol themselves again.
