Government launches Mera Ration Mobile App

Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution launched ‘Mera Ration Mobile App’ for the beneficiaries of ration cardholders who move to new places in search of livelihood.

According to Ministry, at present 32 states and Union Territories are covered under One Nation One Ration Card-ONORC and 17 among them have already been implemented the scheme even integration of the remaining four states and UTs is expected to be completed in the next few months. Even the system covers nearly 69 crore National Food Security Act – NFSA beneficiaries in the country. Ministry of Consumer Affairs Secretary, Sudhanshu Pandey informed that the ONORC has proved to be a tremendous value-added service to each NFSA beneficiary during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly migrants, which allowed them to avail themselves the benefit of subsidized food grains. Ministry of Finance will provide additional borrowing of 0.25 percent of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to eligible states who completed One Nation One Ration Card System reform.

The Government of India had enhanced the borrowing limit of the states by 2 percent of their GSDP and 1 percent of GSDP was linked to undertaking citizen-centric reforms by the states on 17 May 2020 amid the critical situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
