How to Read The Hindu Editorial to Practice for English Language Section of Bank Exams 2020?

Do First Reading Without Understanding The Content

When you start reading the editorial donot try to understand it at first reading as you will end up getting confused and demoralized. The ideal way for somebody who is starting to read editorial is to just have a look at the article first. Give it a rough reading at the first go. Find the difficult words from it and find their meaning. Try to use those words by making other sentences. This will help you in building your vocabulary and will help you in understanding the content in the second go without any interruption. 

The Next Step Is To  Give A Second Reading To The Article

Yes this might sound a lengthy process at once but after sometime you will gradually develop a habit of linking both the steps and will start understanding on one reading. Now, when you are going for the second reading try to make following observations:

  • Make out what the author wants to convey. 
  • The tone of the article- Optimistic, Positive, Negative, Critical, Sarcastic etc.
  • Read the whole passage. Write down important lines as this will help you in Descriptive writing section of Mains.

Do it daily, in the beginning it might take time but eventually you will develop a habit and would take almost half of the time as you will be taking in the beginning.
