• Nationality: To be eligible, a candidate must fall into one of the following categories: (i) an Indian citizen, (ii) a subject of Nepal, (iii) a subject of Bhutan, (iv) a Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, to permanently settle in the country, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam intending to permanently settle in India. Candidates who belong to categories (ii), (iii), (iv), and (v) must also possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
