Need for reforms in Education Sector: Current Affairs Special Series

Need for reforms in Education Sector

Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has given special attention to the need for reforms in the Education sector in India in his Delhi University convocation speech.

PM Narendra Modi had also deliberated on the reforms required in the education sector in May 2020. He emphasized the use of technology in the education sector; and also attention to enhancing learning and adapting technology. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank addressed the annual convocation of the Delhi University. He said that the Delhi University can contribute to nation-building by advancing the Centre of excellence on National Education Policy. He also said that the efforts will not only strengthen the Indian education system but also make the country a global knowledge superpower. Even Mr. Nishank appreciated the efforts of the University for ensuring no disruption on the student in their holistic development during the pandemic period. He asserted that the duty of the university is to patronize, promote and support and give some guidance to other educational institutions. He observed that the university is supporting and promoting other institutions which are located in remote areas under its Vidya Vistar Yojana.

                During the convocation, the Delhi University created history by distributing more than 1.78 lakh digital degrees.
