The Punjab National Bank (PNB) has announced to generate 4000 new jobs in this fiscal of FY 2020-21. These new jobs will be generated through the bank’s expansion in South and West. The MD and CEO S.S. Mallikarjuna Rao said that ‘by November 15, PNB will be adding almost 4,000 employees to its payroll with 990 of them absorbed in the officer cadre’.
Earlier, this year on April 1, 2020- United Bank of India (UBI) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) had merged with Punjab National Bank. This amalgamation has made the PNB second largest nationalized bank of India in terms of business and branch network.
As per the MD and CEO S.S. Mallikarjuna Rao, till now PNB has successfully completed the business and human integration of UBI and OBC, and IT migration will soon take place by December and February 2021 respectively.
4000 Jobs in PNB
In the backdrop of expansion of PNB in South and West region of India, Punjab National Bank will add 4000 employees in its payroll by this current fiscal. Out of this 4000, 990 jobs will be absorbed in the officer scale post.
However, details have not yet come up for other posts, but recruitment notification may come up soon.
Expansion of PNB
The Punjab ANtional Bank is currently operating 11,000 branches largely in the North and East region. The bank is now planning to expand in the South and West with 500 branches during FY21.
