Starting at the age of 21 as a probationary officer at SBI, Arundhati became the first woman to lead the public sector bank. In the year 1983, she married a former IIT Kharagpur professor who had managed her marriage and job at the same time. After four years in the year 1987, she was posted to Nimpura, The branch manager. She was there for three years after which she returned to Kharagpur as a branch manager. In the year 1993, she moved to the commercial bank in Kolkata leaving her husband at IIT Kharagpur. After three years in the year 1996, she got posted in the US as vice president branch coordinator and she served there for four years. In the year 2008, she was posted to Mumbai as a general manager and within a month she got promoted as a chief General manager. She was again posted to Bangalore and when she came back to Mumbai from Bangalore she was posted as a deputy MD of human resources in 2011. Later she got posted as the head of SBI capital markets, then MD, CFO, and eventually the chairman. Her achievements and dedication towards the work led her to touch skies starting from being a probationary officer.

Rajnish Kumar

After Arundhati Bhattacharya , Rajnish Kumar was Named as the chairman of India’s largest state-run lender State bank of India, he is the former chairman. He served as the chairman for three years. Joined the State bank of India as a probationary officer in the year 1980. He also served as a managing director (national banking group) and also the managing director (compliance & Risk) of SBI. Rajnish Kumar also headed the SBI capital markets Ltd as a managing director and chief executive officer before becoming managing director in SBI.In October, he handed over his position to the new chairman Ganesh Kumar Khara.

  • One of his key achievements is the execution of SBI‘s mega-merger.
  • He handled assignments across verticals including large credit, project finance, retail banking, and also headed SBI capital markets.

Dinesh Kumar Khara

He is the current chairman of the State bank of India. Mr. Kumar joined the State bank of India as a probationary officer in the year 1984 and has over 33 years of experience in commercial banking such as retail credit, corporate credit, deposit mobilization, international banking operations, and branch management. He did his masters in business administration from the faculty of management studies, Delhi University. He also had a stint in Chicago and oversaw the merger of five associates and Bharatiya Mahila Bank with SBI.

  • He was also the head of the SBI mutual fund and the SBI General.
  • At SBI MF, credited with ramping up the business.

SBI Apprentice Vacancy 2020

The SBI has released the Apprentice notification for 8500 posts in different states. Candidates can apply for engagement in one state only. Candidates can appear for the SBI Apprentice examination only once under this engagement project.

SBI Apprentice Exam Pattern 2020

Selection for engagement of apprentices would be based on the basis of (i) online written test and (ii) test of local language.
i. Online written test:
The structure of online written examination (online objective type) would be as follows.

The questions will be bilingual i.e., English & Hindi, except for the test of General English. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the
Objective tests. 1/4th of mark assigned for question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates, 5% relaxation available thereon). Minimum qualifying marks on aggregate will be as decided by the Bank. There are no minimum qualifying marks for individual subject. Merit list will be drawn State wise and category wise. Candidates qualified in the test will be placed according to their aggregate marks in descending order in respective States and Categories. In case more than one candidate scores same marks as cut-off marks in the merit list (common marks at cut off point) such candidate will be ranked in the merit list according to their age in descending order in respective States and categories.

ii. Test of local language:
The specified local languages of the states are as mentioned in Para A of the advertisement. The candidates applying for vacancies of a
particular state should be proficient (reading, writing, speaking and understanding) of the specified local language of that State as mentioned
in Para A of the advertisement. The test for knowledge of specified opted local language will be conducted as a part of the selection process. It will
be conducted after qualifying the online written examination. Candidates who fail to qualify for this test will not be engaged for the apprentice.

Candidates who produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheet/ certificate evidencing having studied the specified opted local language will not be
required to undergo the language test. Candidates will have to appear for the test of specified opted local language at a centre (to be decided
by the Bank) of the State applied for, at his/her own expenses.
iii. Medical Examination:
Engagement of selected apprentices is subject to his/her being declared medically fit as per the requirement of the Bank.
Final Selection will be subject to:
a) Verification of eligibility for the post and information furnished in the online application
b) Qualifying in a test of specified opted local language, where applicable, as detailed above.
c) Declared fit in the Medical examination.

However, SBI shall have no obligation to offer regular employment to Apprentices during and/or after the completion of the apprenticeship period. After completion of Apprenticeship period, candidates will be relieved from the respective work area.

SBI Apprentice WAIT LIST:
A Waitlist (State-category wise) will be maintained for one year from the date of result of the engagement of apprentices or next engagement
exercise, whichever is earlier. Candidates will be released only once from this waitlist against non-joining subject to availability of qualified
candidates.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION as on 31.10.2020: Graduation from a recognised University/ Institute.
