SEBI Grade A Previous Year Paper Analysis – Phase 1

SEBI has released the official notification for the recruitment of 147 Assistant Managers in Grade (A) but due to Covid-19 the exam date for the phase-1 and phase-2 is postponed. Phase-1 is now schedule to be conducted on the revised date 4th July,2020 and Phase-2 exam is now schedule to be conducted on the revised date of 23rd August,2020. Also, the last date to apply online is extended till 23rd March 2020. So, if you have missed the last date to apply online for this recruitment then this is a great opportunity to apply and start your preparation and if you are preparing for this exam then checkout the SEBI Grade ‘A’ Phase I previous year Exam Analysis for all-round preparation. The SEBI Grade A 2020 exam pattern is different as compared to the exam pattern of exam held in 2018. In 2018, the Phase I consisted of 5 sections of 40 marks each:

  • English Language
  • Reasoning Ability
  • Quantitative Aptitude
  • General Awareness
  • Securities Market

This year, the Phase I stage of SEBI Grade A 2020 includes 2 Papers of 100 marks each. The paper 1 will include all the above topics expect Securities Market. Here is the SEBI Grade A previous year exam analysis of all the sections.

English Language:

  • The English Language section incorporated traditional topics as well as new pattern questions in 2018.
  • There were two sets of Reading Comprehension based on Small, Large and Medium Enterprises & Education.
  • The Reading Comprehensions were of Moderate level as compared to other banking/insurance exams.
  • Along with the conventional error detection questions, there were also a few questions of a new type of error detection wherein few sentences or a short paragraph was given with some parts of it marked as bold; the question stated that the bold part was error-free and the candidates had to identify the error from the part that was not highlighted as bold.
  • There were also questions of fillers but not the word filler, rather they were sentence-completion based fillers and along with this, there were also a few questions where candidates were given a set of sentences and had to identify which among those did not fit in a general context which other sentences in that question were catering to.

Quantitative Aptitude:

  • More than 50% questions were based on DI. The Data Interpretation was a bit calculative in nature.
  • Double Pie Chart, Bar Graph, Caselet & Tabular were the types of DI asked.
  • The rest of the questions were asked from Missing Number Series, Approximation & arithmetic word problems.

Reasoning Ability:

There were 4 sets of Puzzle & Seating Arrangement questions asked. The puzzles were a bit complicated as compared to other banking/insurance exam.

Types of Puzzle & Seating Arrangement questions are as follows:

  • Floor Based Puzzle, 2 variables
  • Order & Ranking based Puzzle- arrangement of 6 ropes of varying lengths and different colours
  • Circular Seating Arrangement + Blood Relation, 7 people to be arranged to sit in a circle facing towards the centre
  • Linear Seating Arrangement, single line and 10 people
