World Humanitarian Day: Every year on 19th August, World Humanitarian Day is celebrated to pay tribute to our real life heroes who commit their lives in helping people during unexpected circumstances. Since ages these life heroes and legends have been with us since the dawn of our culture. This day celebrates and praises all the heroes, who are even more worthy of our admiration and celebration. This year we are going to celebrate 11th World Humanitarian Day and as the world is still fighting with Coronavirus pandemic, our Humanitarians are still helping the needy people during these tough times. Humanitarian workers are overcoming and coming forward by passing unprecedented hurdles to help the people who are stuck in the crises in 63 countries.

World Humanitarian Day- History & Origion

On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq took place in which 22 people were killed brutally and among these one was the chief humanitarian in Iraq. In 2009, the UN General Assembly announced this day as World Humanitarian Day in remembrance of the bomb attack.

World Humanitarian is an international event whose main motive is to focus on the need of international cooperation towards humanitarian work. Through this day, people are taught about their fictional fantastic feats, and their journeys from dreaming big to applying those in real lives. To appreciate such heroes in our lives who have ended their lives by helping others and who are still doing this chaos without any selfishness, the world celebrates this day with pure soul.

How we are going to celebrate this year?

On 19th August 2020, a global campaign with #RealLifeHeroes is going to happen to celebrate humanitarians with a THANK YOU for committing their lives in helping other people during difficult circumstances without knowing the risk and unpopularity for these deeds.

This campaign would be presenting the stories of the humanitarians who are inspiring the world by treating and preventing the disease, providing safe shelter to the women and girls in the lockdown, giving food to the vulnerable people, running refugge camps and all in this pandemic situations when everyone was preferring to stay home. With this campaign, this day would be celebrating the real heroes’ lives by motivating others to come forward and lend a helping hand to the people who need it.

As the whole world is facing many difficulties this year, therefore the main focus of this campaign is to let people learn about the driving force of these humanitarians to risk their lives and continue to save the lives despite of various conflicts, risks linked with COVID-19, and lack of access. Due to the restrictions made by the government during the crisis, humanitarians faced challenges and as a result many local people, communities, and NGO took part in serving people with food and many necessary items.

Importance of World Humanitarian Day:

This day is special as it celebrates the contribution of unsung heroes for their deeds which are rarely acknowledged in the public. On this day, the heroes who have lost their lives for this vailant cause of helping others in difficult times.
