Recent in News: The Union Cabinet approved the transfer of 10 in-orbit communication satellites from the Government of India (Gol) to NewSpace India Ltd. (NSIL), a wholly-owned Public Sector Enterprise (PSE) of GOI under the administrative control of the Department of Space.It also approved increasing the authorized share capital of NSIL from Rs 1000 crore to Rs 7500 crore


Union Cabinet signed MoU to establish collaborative guidelines between the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Japan, and Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), India to carry out and implement joint research on air quality and climate change


In May 2020, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Samapada Yojana (PMMSY) was launched as a flagship scheme for focused and sustainable development of the fisheries sector with an estimated investment of Rs 20,050 crore during a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25.


As per the circular provided by The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), all ‘hyper-sensitive’ airports need to install a Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) by December 2023, which helps in alerting security agencies of any intrusion through the boundary walls of the airport


Composition of UNSC:

A total of 15 countries make up the United Nations Security Council. 

China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US) are the five permanent members (Permanent Five (P5) members), with veto power. 

UN General Assembly, which is made up of all 193 UN Member States, elects the 10 non-permanent members, who are elected for two-year terms. Even if they run unopposed, countries must win a two-thirds majority, or 128 votes, to secure a seat on the UNSC


The fifth edition of Enhanced Access and Service Excellence – ‘EASE 5.0: Enhanced digital experience; data-driven, integrated, and inclusive banking’, which provides the Common Public Sector Banks (PSBs) Reforms Agenda for the fiscal year 2022-23 (FY23) under the EASENext program.


EASE 5.0 will emphasize increased digital customer experience, and data-driven, integrated, and inclusive banking, with a focus on small enterprises and agriculture

PSBs will continue to invest in new-age capabilities and deepen ongoing reforms under EASE 5.0 in order to respond to changing customer needs, competition, and the technological environment. 

At the same time, all PSBs will develop a bank-specific three-year strategic roadmap, which will include strategic initiatives in addition to EASE 5.0


The PSB Manthan 2022 event, held in April 2022 with functional heads of PSBs, laid the foundation for the genesis of a wider and bolder program, EASENext.  The EASENext would comprise 2 major initiatives: EASE 5.0 (common PSB reforms agenda) and Bank specific strategic 3-year roadmap, based on individual banks’ business priorities.


The awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning’ (DSDP) were instituted under the Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP) Scheme by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MSDE) in June 2018.

Recent in news: During the event, 30 districts were felicitated for their innovative best practices in skill development in the region. Among the participated districts, Rajkot in Gujarat has topped the ranking (rank 1) followed by Cachar in Assam (Rank 2) and Satara in Maharashtra (Rank 3).


SANKALP is an initiative under the MSDE with loan assistance from the World Bank. 

Aim: To improve short-term skill training qualitatively and quantitatively through strengthening institutions, bringing in better market connectivity and inclusion of marginalized sections of the society
