Ans.1.(a)

Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the new scheme called “Agneepath” for the recruitment of soldiers in the Army, Navy and Air Force. This aims to reduce the increasing salary and pensions. This is a transformative initiative which will provide a youthful profile to the Indian Armed Forces. The scheme was initially named “Tour of Duty”, and was launched in the presence of the chiefs of all three services.

Features of Scheme

  • Under this new scheme, the soldiers will be initially inducted for a period of 4 years. On completion of the service period, the soldiers will receive a tax free service fund package of ~Rs. 11.71 lakh as Seva Nidhi Package
  • 45,000 to 50,000 soldiers will be recruited annually and only 25% of them will be allowed to continue for another 15 years under permanent commission.
  • The soldiers will get a salary of Rs.30000, along with additional benefits, this will go up to 40000 by the end of 4 years of service. 
  • Eligibility Age: 17.5 years to 21 years.
  • The Agniveer will be provided with a non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period in the Indian Armed Forces.

EXIM was founded in 1982.

Line of credit (LOC) is a preset borrowing limit that can be tapped into at any time. The borrower can take money out as needed until the limit is reached. As money is repaid, it can be borrowed again in the case of an open line of credit.

World Blood Donor Day(WBDD) is annually observed across the globe on the 14th of June to create awareness about the importance of blood donation and to promote voluntary, non-remunerated blood donation. The day also aims to create awareness about the need for safe blood and blood products like Red blood cells (RBCs), Fresh frozen plasma, White blood cells (WBCs), Immune globulins, etc. The observance of WBDD is led by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The WBDD 2022 is hosted by Mexico through its National Blood Centre. The theme/slogan of WBDD 2022 is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives”

India’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal, setting a new national record as he threw 89.30 metres at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Finland.  He had won the Tokyo Olympics gold with a throw of 87.58m on August 7, 2021. Neeraj Chopra is India’s first-ever Olympic gold medallist in athletics and only the second individual gold medallist at Olympics. Chopra’s 89.30m effort will take him to the fifth spot on the world season leaders’ list.

Finland’s Oliver Helander won the gold medal at the event with a throw of 89.83 metres.
