Dear Aspirants,

Reasoning Questions for IBPS RRB 2018

Reasoning Ability is an onerous section. With the increasing complexity of questions, it becomes hard for one to give it the cold shoulder. The only way to make the grade in this particular section in the forthcoming banking exams like IBPS RRB is to practice continuously with all your heart and soul. And, to let you practice with the best of the latest pattern questions, here is the Adda247 Reasoning Quiz based on the study plan and the exact same pattern of questions that are being asked in the exams.

Directions (1-5): Study the following information carefully and answer the question given below-

Eight persons i.e. U, V, W, X, Y, Z, A, and B are seated around a circular table among them only 3 are facing opposite to the centre and rest are facing to the centre (not necessarily in the same order).

U sits second to the left of W. V is not an immediate neighbour of both W and U. One of the immediate neighbours of W faces opposite direction of W. B sits third to the left of U. Z sits second to the left of B. X is not an immediate neighbour of V. A sits third to the left of X. Y and V face the same direction as X faces. V doesn’t sit opposite to both W and U.

Q1. Who among the following sits second to right of A?
(a) W
(b) Y
(c) Z
(d) B
(e) None of these

Q2. Who among the following sits exactly between V and X?
(a) U
(b) B
(c) A
(d) Y
(e) None of these

Q3. W is facing in which direction?
(a) Outside the centre
(b) Inside the centre
(c) Same as A faces
(d) Both (b) and (c)
(e) None of these

Q4. What is the position of B with respect to Z when in counted anticlockwise direction from Z?
(a) Immediate right
(b) Immediate left
(c) Second to the right
(d) Second to the left
(e) None of these

Q5. Who among the following sits immediate left of W?
(a) X
(b) B
(c) A
(d) Z
(e) None of these

Solutions (1-5):

(i). U sits second to the left of W, so either W faces inside or outside the centre. V is not an immediate neighbour of both W and U. V doesn’t sit opposite to both W and U. B sits third to the left of U, hence U faces inside in case 1 and outside in case 2. Z sits second to the left of B.

ii). One of the immediate neighbours of W faces opposite direction of W, so in case 1 Z faces inside and in case 2 Z faces outside. X is not an immediate neighbour of V. A sits third to the left of X. Y and V face the same direction as X faces.

(iii). Only 3 are facing opposite to the centre so case 1 will be eliminated. In case 2 A will face outside and we get final solution.

Directions (6-10): Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

Eight people J, K, L, M, N, P, Q and O are sitting in a circle facing the centre. All of them are preparing for different exams — Cgl, Cpo, Ibps, Cat, Mat, Nda, Sbi and Mba. They are not necessarily seated in the mentioned order.

Two persons sit between N and the one who is preparing for Cat. The person who is preparing for Mba sits adjacent to the one who is preparing for cat. K is preparing for Ibps exam. J is preparing for Cgl and sits opposite to N. M sits opposite to the one who is preparing for Mat. O is preparing for Sbi and sits second to the right of the one who is preparing for Cat. N is preparing for Cpo. L is preparing for mat exam. L is an immediate neighbour of the person who is preparing for Nda. Q sits third right to K. M is preparing for cat exam.

Q6. Who amongst the following is preparing for Nda exam?
(a) O
(b) L
(c) N
(d) K
(e) None of these

Q7. What is P’s position with respect to M?
(a) Third to the right
(b) Second to the right
(c) Third to the left
(d) Second to the left
(e) Fourth to the right

Q8. How many people are sitting between the one who is preparing for CAT exam and N when counted in clockwise direction from N?
(a) One
(b) Two
(c) Three
(d) Four
(e) None

Q9. Four of the following five pairs are alike in a certain way based on their positions in the above arrangement and so form a group. Which of the following does not belong to the group?
(a) J-CAT
(b) O-CPO
(c) L-Nda
(d) K-CGL
(e) J- CGL

Q10. Which one of the following statements is true according to the above mentioned arrangement?
(a) N is to the immediate left of L.
(b) The one who is preparing for cpo sits opposite to N.
(c) K sits opposite to Q.
(d) N is to the immediate right of the one who is preparing for Ibps.
(e) None of these

Solutions (6-10):

(i). From the conditions, Eight people J, K, L, M, N, P, Q and O are sitting in a circle facing the centre. J is preparing for cgl and sits opposite to N. N is preparing for Cpo. Two persons sit between N and the one who is preparing for Cat. O is preparing for sbi and sits second to the right of the one who is preparing for Cat. The person who is preparing for Mba sits adjacent to the one who is preparing for cat. From this we get two possibilities:

(ii). From the conditions, M is preparing for cat exam. M sits opposite to the one who is preparing for Mat. L is preparing for mat. L is an immediate neighbour of the person who is preparing for Nda.

(iii). From the rest conditions, K is preparing for Ibps exam, so there is only one place for K. Q sits third right to K, so from this statement case 1 gets eliminated. We will get final solution.

Directions (11-15): Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

There are eight people P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W sitting around a circular table facing outside the centre. They are also from different cities — Delhi, Pune, Goa, Punjab, Haryana, UP, Jammu and Mumbai. Q, who is not an immediate neighbour of W, sits second to the left of P, who is from Jammu. The person who is from Goa sits third to the right of the one who is from Haryana. V, who is from Pune sits second to the left of U, who is from Delhi. V sits third to the left of the one who is from Punjab. There are 3 people sit between P and R, who is from Mumbai. S is not an immediate neighbour of both P and Q, who is from Punjab. T sits opposite to the one who is from Pune.

Q11. Who amongst the following is from UP?
(a) P
(b) Q
(c) R
(d) W
(e) None of these

Q12. What is S’s position with respect to U?
(a) Third to the right
(b) Second to the right
(c) Third to the left
(d) Second to the left
(e) Fourth to the right

Q13. How many people are sitting between the one who is from Jammu and U when counted in clockwise direction from the one who is from Jammu?
(a) One
(b) Two
(c) Three
(d) Four
(e) None

Q14. Four of the following five pairs are alike in a certain way based on their positions in the above arrangement and so form a group. Which of the following does not belong to the group?
(a) Q-GOA-
(b) W-DELHI
(c) U-DELHI
(d) S-PUNJAB
(e) T- Pune

Q15. Which one of the following statements is false according to the above mentioned arrangement?
(a) S is to the immediate left of the one who is from UP.
(b) The one who is from Mumbai sits opposite to P.
(c) T sits opposite to V.
(d) S is to the immediate right of the one who is from UP.
(e) None of these

Solutions (11-15):

(i). Q, who is not an immediate neighbour of W, sits second to the left of P, who is from Jammu. Q is from Punjab. V, who is from Pune sits second to the left of U, who is from Delhi. V sits third to the left of the one who is from Punjab. T sits opposite to the one who is from Pune. From this we get only one case.

(ii). There are 3 people sit between P and R, who is from Mumbai. S is not an immediate neighbour of P and Q, so there is only one possible place for S to sit i.e immediate left of V. The person who is from Goa sits third to the right of the one who is from Haryana, so T is from Haryana and S is from Goa. And thus we get the final arrangement.
