The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution 42/112 on 7th December,1987 in which it was decided to celebrate 26th June as World Drug Day or International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The ultimate goal to commemorate World Drug Day was to make the society free from drug abuse because Drug Abuse has the ability to destroy the society physically, emotionally, socially, and monetarily.

People have the misconception about drugs and the aim of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is to eliminate the misconceptions. In most cases drugs are used as a health remedy and doctors suggest their intake but only in a limited amount. So when prescribed by the doctor we need to intake the drug but only as suggested and not make it an addiction.
