World Teacher’s Day 2022: Teachers’ Day is a worldwide event and is commemorated annually on October 5 by the United Nations (UN). Depending on the nation, different countries may observe different dates for World Teachers’ Day. In India, Teachers’ Day is observed on September 5 in honor of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan’s birth anniversary, while World Teachers’ Day is observed on October 5. United States observes it on a Tuesday during the first full week of May and Australia on the last Friday of October.

World Teacher’s Day 2022: History 

UNESCO established the first World Teachers’ Day on 5 October 1994, to focus attention on teacher engagement and development, as well as to highlight teachers’ challenges and goals in education. The date of October 5 was chosen to commemorate International Teachers’ Day since it marked the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation. Governments recognized the value of qualified, competent, and motivated teachers by adopting this guideline.
