Eligibility Criteria of Central Bank of India PSB Officer

Candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions to apply for the post of Inquiry Authority.

Cadre and Retirement

  • The applicant must be a retired officer from a Public Sector Bank.
  • The officer should have retired on superannuation at the age of 60 years.
  • The applicant must have retired from Scale IV or above.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit is 63 years as on the date of publication of the notification 17 July 2026.

Ineligibility Conditions

The following categories of retired officers are not eligible to apply:

  • Officers who took voluntary retirement.
  • Officers who resigned before superannuation.
  • Officers who were suspended, dismissed, terminated, or removed from service.
  • Officers who left the bank before attaining the age of superannuation.

Track Record and Conduct

Applicants must have:

  • A good service track record with no criminal record.
  • No major punishment/penalty in the last 5 years preceding retirement.
  • No minor punishment/penalty in the last 3 years preceding retirement.
  • Not been named in the ODI List during the last 5 years before retirement.
  • Sound physical and mental health.

Experience Required

Candidates should possess experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Banking operations
  • Human Resource Management
  • Industrial Relations
  • Handling departmental inquiries as Inquiry Authority (IA)
  • Presenting Officer (PO)
  • Disciplinary Authority (DA)
  • Additionally, applicants must have a flair for writing reports and should be willing to travel as required.

Term of Engagement

  • The initial engagement will be for a period of up to 1 year.
  • The contract may be extended annually based on performance and task review.
  • The engagement can continue only up to the age of 65 years.
  • No new inquiries will be assigned after the officer attains 65 years of age.
  • Any inquiry assigned before the age of 65 must be completed even after attaining the age limit.

Central Bank of India IA Recruitment 2026 Remuneration

The remuneration will be paid as a lump-sum amount based on the scale of the charge-sheeted officer, the scale from which the Inquiry Authority retired and the turnaround time (TAT) for submitting the inquiry report.

Roles and Responsibilities of CBI IA Recruitment 2026

Selected Inquiry Authorities will be responsible for:

  • Conducting departmental inquiries assigned by the Disciplinary/Competent Authority.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality of all inquiry-related documents and proceedings.
  • Submitting inquiry reports within a maximum period of 180 days.
  • Returning all records and documents after completion of the inquiry.
  • Ensuring they are not a witness, complainant, or relative of the delinquent officer.
  • Holding inquiries on bank premises, with Video Conferencing (VC) preferred to minimize travel.

Termination of Contract

This job is strictly on contract and there is no re-employment option with the Bank. Either party may terminate the contract by giving 30 days’ notice or by paying one month’s salary in lieu of notice.

The contract may be terminated on grounds such as:

  • Unsatisfactory quality of work
  • Delay in completion of inquiries
  • Lack of honesty or integrity
  • False declaration or suppression of facts
