CAIIB Full Form: Know All About CAIIB Exam

CAIIB Full Form: CAIIB, is one of the flagship courses conducted by the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance(IIBF). CAIIB is held twice a year, in May-June and in November-December. Employees who have just begun their careers in the banking and finance industry must not be aware of the term CAIIB. CAIIB is a promotional-driven exam that will promote the candidate and will benefit them with an increment in their salary. What does CAIIB Stand For?

CAIIB stands for Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers. The aim of CAIIB is to provide advanced knowledge that will be necessary for better decision making covering the important fields such as Treasury Management, Risk Management, Balance Sheet Management, Credit Management,
International Banking, Economic Analysis etc.

Medium of CAIIB Exam:

CAIIB Exam is held in Online Medium. At the time of registration of application candidates have to choose the medium which can be either English or Hindi in which they will attempt their CAIIB Paper. Aspirants cannot change the medium of their choice later.

Passing Criteria of CAIIB:

Minimum passing marks for a candidate to qualify each paper of CAIIB Exam is 50 out of 100. Aspirants will be considered as having qualified the CAIIB Exam if they obtain 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50% marks in all the papers of the CAIIB Exam in a single attempt. The credits for the subject they have passed in their previous attempt will be retained until the expiry of the time limit for passing the examination.

Time Limit for Passing the CAIIB Exam:

The aspirants have to clear their CAIIB Exam within a time limit of 2 years(i.e 4 consecutive attempts). The candidates who will not be able to clear the CAIIB Exam in the time period of 2 years will have to register their application again. In such a  case the credit of any paper that they have passed earlier will not be granted. The attempt will be counted even if a candidate has not attempted the paper and have done the registration. Time Limit of 2 years will start from the date of application for first attempt.

CAIIB Eligibility Criteria:

To appear for the CAIIB Exam members must have completed JAIIB or Part-1 of the Associate Examination. The subscription of the members of IIBF should not be in arrears. The question asked in the CAIIB Exam tests the knowledge of the aspirant, analyze their problem solving skills, conceptual, analytical and logical understanding,.

Exam Pattern of CAIIB

CAIIB Exam comprises, two compulsory papers(Paper 1 and Paper 2) and one elective paper(Paper 3). Advanced Bank Management(ABM) and Bank Financial Management(BFM) are the two compulsory papers. For the elective paper aspirants have to make their choice among the options provided and specialize themselves in their chosen field. The electives must be chosen either in the field they are working or the field they aspire to work in the future. The Papers of CAIIB are further divided into different modules. 100 questions of 100 marks will be asked in each of the papers of CAIIB.  The time allotted for each paper of CAIIB will be 2 Hours. There is no negative marking in the CAIIB Exam. The Elective Papers are:

  • Rural Banking
  • Retail Banking
  • Human Resources Management
  • Information Technology
  • Risk Management
  • Central Banking
