PM Modi visits in Tamil Nadu and Kerala: Current Affairs Series

Today’s Current Affairs Topic is the PM Modi visits in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

PM Modi launched several projects in poll bounded states Tamil Nadu and Kerala and highlighted the budget announcements to improve farming, fishing and infrastructure facilities in both visited states.

In Chennai, PM Modi inaugurated the Chennai Metro Rail Phase-I extension, which has been completed at a cost of Rs.3, 770 crore. He also inaugurated the fourth railway line between Chennai Beach and Attipattu. PM Modi hailing Chennai as the automobile manufacturing hub of India and said Tamil Nadu was also evolving as the tank manufacturing hub and the state’s  defence corridor has already received an investment commitment of over Rs.8,100 cr. PM Modi also handed over the indigenous main battle tank Arjun MK-1A to the army chief general MM Naravane. 

Later day, on visiting to Kochi (Kerala), PM urged the start-ups to work on innovative tourism products as per the sector has thrown up a great opportunity in the face of Covid-19 pandemic. He remembering the mantra ‘per drop, more crop’ while applauding the farmers in the state for record food grain production and good use of water resources. He highlighting the efforts of the government to make India a hub for sea-food exports and called upon researchers to come up with ideas to make the sector vibrant.
