13th FICCI Global Skills Summit 2022

The subject of the 13th Global Skills Summit, ‘Education to Employability – Making it Happen,‘ would focus on facilitating the transition from education to employability for our country’s youth. After 34 years since the National Policy of Education was launched in 1986, the new National Education Policy-2020 envisions a learning ecosystem that is second to none. Our country is currently on the verge of capitalizing on the demographic dividend, disruptive technology, and a changing world of work. The Summit would look through the NEP lens and focus on how India can become the “Skill Capital of the World,” using the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) as an underlying theme.

Key Points:

  1. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan discussed how to use talents to take advantage of the demographic dividend and strengthen the Indian skills ecosystem.
  2. India’s demographic dividend is a blessing for our nation and to translate our demographic dividend into a revolutionary powerhouse, education and skill development must be key factors.
  3. To make our workforce more productive, we must strengthen and expand our economy. Our workforce will become significantly more dynamic with the help of measures like apprenticeship and the simplification of labor rules.
  4. Our government is implementing a variety of initiatives and making regulatory reforms to create a more robust ecosystem for education and skills, from the academic bank of credit to the upcoming digital university.
  5. In order to accelerate further change in the education and skills sector, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan has urged for strengthening the connections between academia, industry, and policymakers.
