World Athletics Day 2023: History
World Athletics Day was first launched in 1996 by the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) President Primo Nebiolo. The IAAF was founded on July 17, 1912, in Stockholm, Sweden, to organize various sports events and athletics. In 2001, the name of the IAAF was changed to the International Association of Athletics Federations, and in 2019, it was renamed World Athletics. The federation aims to organize and sponsor sports events in schools and colleges to promote fitness and health among children and young people.
World Athletics Day 2023: Theme
Each year, World Athletics Day is celebrated with a specific theme. The first World Athletics Day was centered around the Centennial edition of the Olympic games held in Atlanta. As of now, the theme for World Athletics Day 2023 has not been announced yet.
