Who Are Gazetted Officers?

Gazetted Officers are all those public servants holding the executive/managerial level ranks in India. All the powers of a gazetted officers are vested by the President of India or the Governors of the State. Gazetted officers can issue the official stamp by the power vested upon them. With these powers and ranks, they are de jure representatives and delegates of the Indian State and the President. The gazetted officer is a person whose name is published in the Gazette of India or any State Government Gazette.

The Gazette of India and State Gazettes are official Government publications, whose primary work is to publish the appointments or promotions of certain government officials. Any person who is appointed as an officer or public servant and is appointed under the seal of the Governor at State level or by the President of India at the national level (and in the Union Territories), he/she requires being listed in the Indian Gazette or State Government Gazette and is considered to be a Gazetted Officer.

Is RBI Grade B A Gazetted Officer?

No, RBI Grade B is not a gazetted officer post because the Reserve Bank Of India is a separate entity  from government Of India. Working in RBI doesn’t mean directly working for the government, though RBI is a wholly own subsidiary of the Government Of India. The power vested on the RBI Grade B officer is through rules and regulations of RBI and not by President of India or Governor of a State. Gazetted Officers are those whose names are mentioned in the Gazette of India and RBI Grade B officer’s names are not mentioned in Gazette India.
