The Preliminary exam for LIC AAO 2025 will consist of three sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language. While the Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude sections contribute to the final score, the English Language section is qualifying in nature and will not be included in the merit list. The total duration of the exam is 60 minutes.

There will be no negative marking in the prelims exam for Generalist posts, giving applicants an advantage to attempt all questions without fear of losing marks. However, for Specialist posts, a penalty of 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in the preliminary stage.
