Russia Registers World’s First Covid-19 Vaccine

COVID-19 Vaccine: The world has been struggling with the coronavirus pandemic issue and now finally some good news has been coming all the way from Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin has mentioned that the country is ready with its vaccine to tackle COVID 19. He also mentioned that the vaccine has been used on one of his daughters, stating that it can be used in public now. He spoke up in a meeting that the vaccine has been tested in labs and have been proven to enhance the immune system of humans so that it can create a barrier against the impacts of coronavirus.

The Russian Vaccine to fight against COVID 19 has been named Sputnik V. The name has been suggested with respect to the Cold War Space race. 

The vaccine was getting developed in the Gamaleya Institute of Moscow and the testing on humans was going on for the last 2 months. The health ministry of Russia has finally approved it and has mentioned it to be appropriate for fighting against the virus now. Currently, the WHO and UN authorities are also in contact with the health ministry of Russia to understand the qualifications of the vaccine. 

The head of the RDIF sovereign wealth fund, Kirill Dmitriev has mentioned that after the announcement of the vaccination as many as 20 countries have already requested it. Russia has received a request of over 1 billion dosages of the vaccine till now. On this basis, the country has mentioned that the industrial production of the vaccination will start from the month of September.

What Experts are saying?

Though Russia has claimed that the vaccination is ready to protect individuals from the ill impacts of COVID 19, there are a number of experts who are raising safety concerns for the vaccination.
